Competition

COMPETITION:  The tournament will be a 36-hole stroke play competition with no cut after the first day of competition. 

Eligibility

ELIGIBILITY:  This tournament is open to female amateur golfers who are residents of Maryland or members of member clubs of the MSGA with a USGA INDEX of 14.0 or less as of SEPTEMBER 1, 2008 and to female professional golfers who are active members or apprentices in good standing of the PGA, LPGA or the Futures Tour but do not have a player's card for the LPGA.  Entries are limited to female professional golfers and female low amateurs to comprise a field of 60 contestants.

IMPORTANT: ENTRIES OPEN FOR AMATEURS AND PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2008.    ENTRIES RECEIVED PRIOR TO THIS DATE WILL BE RETURNED.  NO FAX ENTRIES ACCEPTED.  ENTRIES CLOSE ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2008.

Entries

ENTRIES:             

1.        The entry fee is $150.00.  Properly completed application, entry fee and USGA Index for Amateurs must be submitted to and received by the MSGA Office no later than SEPTEMBER 24, 2008.  Make checks payable to MSGA-WD.  NO REFUNDS AFTER SEPTEMBER 27, 2008.

2.     Professional entrants must supply their social security number as part of the application.

3.     ENTRIES MAY BE REFUSED BY THE MSGA-WD OR HOST CLUB AT ANY TIME.  PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED.  JEANS SHORTS, SHORT SHORTS AND    DENIM CLOTHING NOT PERMITTED.  DRESS CODE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

4.     The MSGA-WD Officer in Charge shall assign pairings and starting times.

5.        Starting times and pairings can be obtained on September 29, 2008 by calling the host club’s Pro Shop at 301-390-7347or on the MSGA web site at www.msga.org.

6.     Players may bring their own caddies or carts will be available.

7.     Shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach:  Disqualification.

 

Prizes

PRIZES:  If a minimum number of professionals participate, the MSGA-WD will award a purse of  $10,000.00 in prize money to the low scoring professionals.  Appropriate merchandise prizes will be awarded to the low scoring amateurs.  The winner’s name will be engraved on the permanent trophy.  In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will follow immediately after the completion of play.

Rules

RULES: USGA Rules will govern all play, except as modified by local rules.  If a player elects to withdraw from the tournament, she must promptly notify the MSGA-WD Officer in Charge.  This is to ensure an alternate a fair opportunity to play.  All participants should arrive at the first tee no later than 5 minutes prior to the participant’s appointed starting time.
